Colorado Springs, CO- Jan.14, 2012-- With a strong group of 9 returning performers, the ASU men’s gymnastics team took on some of the best teams in the West at the annual Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs this past weekend. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Air Force, University of Washington, the Olympic Training Center and ASU squared off in the first season meet of 2012. Oklahoma took first place with a score of 343.70 followed by US Air Force in second and Nebraska in third. ASU came home with a fourth place finish, beating out the Washington Huskies.

3- Nebraska 331.30
4- OTC 329.60
5- ASU 314.10
6- Washington 248.10

TOP ASU All Around FINISHERS:
Alex Gaudaur (2nd) 77.90
Lee Wilkerson (3rd) 76.80
Stewart MacDonald (4th) 75.90

Coach Barclay stated that “For the first competition of the season, our team did well with all the new skills they have been training since last April. It was a test to see where each guy is personally and how we stack up with the other teams in the country. Now we go back home and work on fine tuning our routines and adding more difficulty.”
The Sun Devil men travel to New York in two weeks for the West Point Open competition which will be against the top East Coast schools.
